Leaping Learners

Leaping Learners is a class offered by Kansas City Behavior Analysts (KCBA) and is an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) based classroom for children ages 3-4-5 who need additional support to prepare for kindergarten. Our group focuses on learning the pre-requisite skills needed for

your child to enter kindergarten in the least restrictive environment.  We place a heavy emphasis on following group instruction and acquiring new skills in a group setting, and developing social skills. We keep your child’s motivation high and utilize that motivation to teach new and socially relevant skills.  While Leaping Learners will work on many academic areas that are needed for kindergarten, it will also teach your child how to learn in a group, how to interact with peers and how to enjoy and look forward to learning.

 

In addition to the benefits your child will receive socially, behaviorally and academically, enrollment will also include:

  • Initial VB-MAPP assessment
  • Individualized behavior plans 
  • Individualized goals
  • Progress reports
  • Monthly team meetings to report progress and give tips on how to maintain and generalize those skills into your natural environment
  • Transition support into public or private school
  • Assistance in IEP development 
  • Providing initial or ongoing training with new school staff
