School consultation is provided when a school district or private school are requesting consultation to either start or re-design an entire program based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. A significant amount of time spent in initial workshops to bring staff to an understanding of principles and behavior analytic procedures is required, as well as time spent overlapping and training on the job site. As the team demonstrates success and independence in their behavior analytic skills, consultation is gradually faded. Consultation is also provided to schools when they request additional behavior analytic services be provided to specific teachers and/or professionals in dealing with a specific child(ren) in a particular classroom. This service again requires initial time spent training staff in a workshop format and then transferring these skills into the classroom. Emphasis is placed on teaching the staff behavioral strategies to assist in working with students and not on "fixing" a problem behavior only. |
