Indoor Championship
The 2005 ECC European Indoor Championships will
take place in Herning, Denmark from 12-13 February 2005 (by Richard
Holdsworth, ICC European Development Manager).

| | | 2004-10-01 | Cross-border cooperation with sFOCUS (The
Swiss Federation of Cricket Umpires and Scorers)
sFOCUS (The Swiss Federation of Cricket Umpires and
Scorers) is intending to run an 'Overseas Umpires' course, 26th - 28th November
in Bern. The course is aimed at umpires who generally stand in one-day
matches and is said to be intermediate between ACU&S I + II. We would
like to open this to participants from neighbouring countries . (by Richard M

Important - the playing dates of the OL
semi-finals have been changed!
The Chairman of ACA informed us that both
OL semi-finals will be played on Seebarn 1 ground to enable all
semi-finalists to enjoy the same ground standard, as follows:
VCC vs SBCC on Saturday, 4th September, 2004, match
begin: 10:30 a.m.
ACCW vs PCC on Sunday, 5th September, 2004, match
begin: 10.00 a.m.

Congratulations to all of the successful
candidates who passed the ECC
Introductory Level Umpiring Course.
The Austrian Cricket
Association and Austrian Union of Cricket Umpires and Scorers would like to
extend their thanks to ASKÖ-Wien for
assisting by providing a seminar room and superb catering facilities at their
Sports Centre in Atzgersdorf. We also thank Graham Cooper, EDP's
Umpiring Consultant,
who run again an excellent seminar on umpiring and scoring.

ECC Intro Umpiring & Scoring Seminar
AUCUS in association with the Austrian Cricket Association is organising the ECC Intro Umpiring & Scoring Seminar over the weekend of March, 5 - 7 2004 in Vienna.
We are looking forward to Graham Cooper
who will hold this seminar. Just to remind you that the min. numbers
are 6 and the maximum are 10.

ECC Umpire Nominations for Season 2004
ECC is selecting umpires for its forthcoming Championships:
- European Championships, 2nd Division, Antwerp, Belguim: 17 - 24 July
- U17 2nd Division Championships, Bologna, Italy: 01 - 06 August
- Representative Championships, Ljubljana, Slovenia: 15 - 20 August
- U13 2nd Divison Championships, Gibraltar: 23 - 28 August

ECC Umpire Exchange Programme
ECC is continuing its ECC
Umpire Exchange Programme for 2004. For this year it has been decided
that 2 umpires should be invited to attend the U19 Championships at
Oundle School from 18 – 24 July. The teams competing in this are:
Denmark, Scotland, The Netherlands, Ireland and a Northamptonshire
Cricket Board XI. Because the Championship is an international one
there has to be a minimum standard of qualification that can be
accepted. The minimum qualification is therefore a pass at the ECC
Introductory Umpire examination. It is expected that there will be a
good response to this and therefore many umpires will be disappointed
if they are not selected. However, it is hoped that future years will
provide further opportunities to expand the Programme and that, in
time, most umpires will get the chance to experience cricket under
English conditions.
