薪传实验剧团成立于2008年，剧团成员全部为80后戏剧人，不满于平庸而肤浅的北京戏剧，旨在寻找戏剧新美学。剧团凭借2008年北京青年戏剧节上的《电之驿站》，于2009年夏赴纽约国际实验戏剧节和加拿大蒙洛里爱国际戏剧节演出，这是80后戏剧首次登上国际舞台。

剧团导演王翀，夏威夷大学戏剧硕士，也曾在北京大学和加州大学学习戏剧。他曾获2009年蒙洛里爱国际戏剧节大奖提名、2008年北京青年戏剧节新锐导演奖、2007年中国译协韩素音青年翻译奖亚军。他的导演作品包括：

Théâtre du Rêve Expérimental is dedicated to refresh the stagnant theatre scene in Beijing. Most of the troupe members are graduates from prestigious schools, such as the Central Academy of Drama, Peking University, UC Berkeley, and NYU. Théâtre du Rêve Expérimental toured e-Station in New York and Quebéc during the summer of 2009, making it the youngest Chinese theatre group to tour internationally.

WANG Chong, its founder, is an award-winning director and seasoned translator. He has studied theatre at Peking University, University of Hawaii, and UC Irvine. His works have been praised by the media as "exciting work on an international level," "memorable work of the year," and "history in the making."
