Enjoying the Summer's heat in Auroville seemed not a very feasible idea to me, when I first thought of doing my first architectural internship in the famous international township near Pondicherry, India. Reason? Distance. But then, the better sense prevailed. And It was one of my best decisions to take myself and my backpack to the Indian Eutopia. In Auroville, I worked under Ar. Shama Dalvi (Firm name- Shama Dalvi Architects, Aurolec, Auroville) for two months, from 15th june 2008 to 15th july 2008. I basically worked on three different Projects-: 1. Arati- The 12 Apartment Residential Project. 2. Herve's Residence- A Renovation Project. 3. Amaidhi- A Gated Community in Yelagiri, a quiet hill station of Tamil nadu. And its needless to say that apart from work, I enjoyed the life at Auroville a lot. Beaches, Bikes, Friends and Get togethers. And add to that the serenity and calmness of the Ashram in Pondicherry. The internship couldn't have been more awesome. |
