The 2200 men of the 39th Battalion AIF are just a tiny subset of the 300,000 Australians who enlisted in WW1. But their collective and individual stories are crucial to understanding the impact of WW1 on their communities and families, both at the time and subsequent generations.

This section has 2 main parts:

    Biographies

An assortment of articles found or created about members of the 39th Battalion AIF.
This is where help is needed.
Any contributions will be published, and will help the present and future generations understand their heritage.

    Lists

The Editor has compiled a database by combining all of the Embarkation Lists of the 39th Battalion and its' 8 batches of Reinforcements.
Every member who left Australia should be found on the Consolidated List.
This shows their age, rank, occupation, place of enlistment and, importantly, which Company or batch of Reinforcements they embarked with.
    It is sorted alphabetically.
The ByPlace list has the same details but is sorted by their place of enlistment.
It is this list that highlights the sets of brothers, families and communities affected.
