Thalen's Guide to Unusual Places in the

World of Warcraft (WoW)

Note:  This is a work in progress...I'll be finishing this off in the near future, for now it's really just a placeholder.

This is just a few screen shots of strange and unusual places I've run across while exploring the World of Warcraft.

In my travels around the game, I've run across just a few places that either 1) weren't supposed to be open to the public (oops!), or 2) are so far removed from normal travel that probably the designers never figured people would bother to visit.  Granted, there are a LOT of these kinds of places in WoW, but many (most) of them are designed so that you cant' actually travel there without some kind of cheat/hack.  There are, however, a few that can be visited easily, or with some effort.

Please note: I do NOT approve of any unapproved use of programs that go against the rules that Blizzard intends.  I do not use any sort of cheats whatsoever.  Any place I've been in the world are accessible simply by normal travel.  That being said, I'm fairly certain that some areas that you CAN get to are areas that Blizzard does not want you to be able to travel to, but for whatever reason they didn't successfully prevent a person from easily walking there.  These are somewhat gray in nature, and if I find out that an area is supposed to be off-limits, I recommend that people don't go back there again.

One example of the above is the Ironforge Airport.  It is fairly easy to access from a couple different places simply by walking or riding a mount, and very little has been done to prevent going there.  In the past, I've gone in and taken a few screenshots of the area, and it is certainly an interesting place...

Above the airport area itself are a few interesting locations, but nothing quite as spectacular...

There is also a small Alliance 'town' below the airport itself, just above Menethil harbor.

One interesting spot is called Newman's Landing.  It's situated directly west of Coldridge Valley, the Dwarf and Gnome starting area in Azeroth.  You can't get there from that area though...you have to swim the coast either south from the Wetlands (Menethil Harbor), or north from Elwyn Forest (Stormwind). It is a small building with a dock.  It looks a little...scary.

Slightly less scary is an area along the coast of Silithus, in the far SW corner.  You can't get there by going to Silithus though, you have to swim...west from Tanaris, or south from Feralas.  It's a small town of Horde architecture, and there's an empty cave just east of there (one of the typical cave builds).
