Field Trip_ 8~9 October

There will be a field trip to forest cultural sites outside of Seoul after two days long presentations.
 

1. Programme

 

[Day1] 8. October (Wed)

 

10:00~11:50 World Ceramic Exposition Foundation, Icheon City

• The ceramic works of major Koreans, Special exhibitions (Explanation English by Icheon City council)

• Traditional Korean kiln, Permanent exhibition hall, Halls of Korean Master-hands, TOYA Ceramic Showrooms, Auditorium, Art shop

 12:00~13:00 Lunch

• Icheon Ssalbap Jeongsik (tabled’hote).The Icheon white rice is the best in the country. Salbap Jeongsik is served with highly appetizing banchan (side dishes) including grilled fish, steamed eggs, bulgogi, pork stew, various herb, etc.

 13:30~14:50 Songmal Village Grove, Icheon City

• One of the representative Korean traditional village groves.

• History: The Grove was established in order to complement weakness in the landscape surrounding the Songmal village coumunity.

• Brief description: Size (3000), Dominant tree species (Zelkova serrata, Kalopanax pictum, and Alnus spp. (Z. serrata: 65 ind., DBH: 5~174 cm).

 15:00~16:00 Dorip-ri Yukgoijeong

• Korean traditional pavilion and six historic trees.

• The pavilion was built by six scholars for academic purpose in Choson Kingdom.

• The species of six trees is Zelkova seratta, and was planted to remember their alliance of the six scholars.

 

 

 16:40~17:40 Royal Mausoleum of King Sejong, Yeoju-gun

• This royal tomb of King Sejong the great (the fourth king of the Choson Kingdom) who had invented Korean Alphabet in 1443

• He is credited with technological advances.

• During his reign, Jang Yeong-sil (a prominent inventor) created new significant designs for water clocks, armillary spheres, and sundials.

※ This is an alternative program (if we have enough time)

 18:00~19:00 Dinner

• Grilled and Broiled Dishes: Boiled mackerel with soy sauce or Grilled sliced pork (with boiled rice)

 19:00~08:00 Lodging

• Suite (Illseong Condominium in Yeoju-gun)

 

[Day2]. 9 October (Thu)

 

08:00~09:00 Breakfast

• Rice, Noodle: Rice soup or Plain noodle

 09:00~10:00 Silleuk-sa Temple, Yeoju-gun

• The Silleuk-sa (Buddhist Temple) was found during the reign of King Jinpyeong (579~631) the Silla Kingdom.

• The multi-tiered tower (Treasure No. 226)

 

 12:00~13:00 Lunch

• Boiled Chicken soup with ginseng (Samgyetang)

 13:00~15:00 Korea Fork Village, Yong-In City

• 30 Fork villages, The traditional lifestyle of Korean people.

• Farmer's Houses in the Northern, Central, Island Part of Korea.

• Private educational institution, Provincial Governor's Office, Shrine.
