MWPL was founded in 2003 at the University of Texas at Austin by Aurora Martinez, Elysia Figueroa and Lizette Montiel.  The organization has continued to grow rapidly and increases its membership each semester.  MWPL is open to undergraduates at The University of Texas at Austin who are minority women and are considering practicing law.

The purpose of this organization is to unite and motivate Minority Women at the University of Texas at Austin who are interested in law, justice and Law School. We aim to prepare Minority Women who have ambitions of law school, and provide information on what a minority woman's experience will be in law school and in a career of law. We aspire to create long lasting networks of minority women who can rely on each other and each other's experiences to best prepare for the world of law.
