At the start of every work day during the UN
Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen (5:30 pm our time) come to the Nightcliff Uniting Church for
No Impact Man On the first night of the vigil stay for the NT premiere of No Impact Man. 5:30pm - Candlelit vigil for the climate talks in Copenhagen followed by food and drinks. 6:15pm - Short talk about upcoming Darwin projects (Food Gardens, Transition Decade, etc…) 6:45pm - screening of 'No Impact Man' – The story of Colin Beavan’s decision to completely eliminate his personal impact on the environment for a full year. ...when his espresso-guzzling, retail-worshipping wife Michelle and their two-year-old daughter are dragged into the fray, the No Impact Project has an unforeseen impact of its own. Followed by conversation about UN Climate Change Conference, and how we can improve our lives while lessening our impact on the Planet. The No Impact Man blog features many interesting stories about changing diet and learning about the various impacts industrialized agriculture have had on the carbon cycle, health and welbeing etc... There were visits to local food co-ops, city farms and 'farmers markets' in and around New York City. "A big part of the No Impact project was to eat only local, seasonal, unpackaged food. That meant, basically, lots of fresh vegetables. Michelle and I both lost a lot of weight." (Colin Beavan) We
intend to serve local food so if you have any suggested recipes or
would like to bring some locally grown food to share please do. For more information contact: Climate Action Darwin: climate@climateactiondarwin.org David Forsyth: davidfntau@yahoo.com.au |
