SEYMOUR (Descendants of Thomas Seymour & Mary Higgins)

This list of Seymour descendants has come about from a database of over 7,500 Hoare/Hore descendants and connections created by Leanne Kellalea in her bid to find out who raised my grandfather Joseph Killalea who was known as “Joseph Patrick Hore” his entire adult life.

Joseph’s father committed suicide 13 days before Joseph was born and his mother died when he was only 4-5 months old.  His mother was Annie Seymour and I was told by a descendant of Joseph’s sister Sarah (Standing) that they always knew that Joseph existed and that he was raised by “Old Maggie”.  My father told me that he believed his father was raised in the Albury area but left home at the age of 15yrs and came down into Gippsland, Victoria for reasons still unknown.

The William Hoare/Hore line is of most interest to Leanne and I together with William's son Charles (who married Elizabeth Seymour who was the sister of Joseph’s mother Annie).  If William’s wife is “Old Maggie” then she died when Joseph was only 4 yrs old and it could have been logical that he then ended up with his aunt Elizabeth as she had children around his age.

The other possibility I have considered for “Old Maggie” is Margaret McInnes who married Robert Andrew Hore (son of William Hoare & Margaret Seymour).  This couple had a son Donald Andrew Hore and years ago when I quizzed my uncle Cec what he knew about his father’s family he said he had heard Joseph talk about a brother Dan whom I had always assumed as being Daniel and spent years looking for.  Only recently I have met Donald’s grandson who tells me Donald Andrew was known as “Dan” and there would have been less than 4 yrs difference in the ages of Joseph and Donald Andrew Hore.  This family is of now of great interest too.

Any assistance with solving this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

Note: This is far from a complete list of descendants as it was being used to figure out all the Seymour Hore connections (especially those in the Albury area) and placed here now to assist other researchers.  Should you find any obvious mistakes please let me know and I will correct them although Leanne was very thorough with her research but I don’t want to be leading anybody astray?
