Day XII - Petra, Jordan

Shalom,

[Above: The entire tour group posing for a photo in front of the 'treasury' building in Petra.]

This is my final email from Greater Israel for 2008.

We have completed our visit of the rose red city of Petra.

Interestingly this place was a necropolis used to entomb the dead of the Nabatean kingdom

It is also speculation from reading the OT passages that the righteous remnant of Israel will shelter in the Petra range of mountains during the Tribulation

I was last here in 2002 in Jan or Feb with Pastor KE Matthews. Back then it was cold. Today it was optimum gentle cool temperature in some corners of the Siq canyon where Petra is located but it got warm by the time we made our way out at about half past 9 AM local time.

By the way, our Jordanian guide is a chap who wants us to call him Sam. He is a joker with brown curly hair worn in a pony tail. Quite tall. Christian.

In Israel, we were guided by Iddo. Chubby and tough guy who looks like in his fifties. Archaelogist. Was a navy SEAL.

In Egypt, our guide was Redda. Short guy. Bald with spectacles. Looks like kojak, the tv character from 70s. Has a paunch.

Now it is three hours drive north to Amman and the flight to Doha in qatar.

Next year in Jerusalem.

Best,

Terence
