Dear ALL,

Praise God! I am still alive! Have made it up and down the traditional Mt Sinai.

The top was not black and this is probably not the real thing. I think Bible also says the top was rained with fire etc

The summit I am told is 2500 metres above sea level. The route twisted and turned round the mount. The last bit - the so called 700 steps was the killer. Many times I stumbled and had to use my hands. In the end, apart from the bedouin guide, I was no. 3 to the top. Only 5 from our group made it to the top.

God was Good. 6 of us chose to hike the mount ALL the way whilst 10 decided to use camel to ride up. Those who used camels, nonetheless had to dismount and hike up the last 700 steps as it was too steep for camels.

The morning sunrise viewed from the summit was amazing and made what I regard as the most physically challenging experience worthwhile.

The summit of the mountain has a small church and mosque. In between us and the summit, the ascent was most bizarre in that everywhere we went there were bedouin wanting to sell us stuff. This ranged from water to simply holding your hand to help you ascend.

To the bedouin this is a walk in the park. Our own bedouin guide goes up and down the mount twice a day.

Amazing stuff, I can see why this mount symbolises the Law, it was almost impossible to climb.

Uncle Chris did not ascent to the summit, choosing to stay behind with some of the others who were too tired to make the final lap.

We began at 1 am, we reached the bottom at 8.15 local time.

Seven hours plus in total.

Shalom,

Terence
