About US: The Tensas River Refuge Association (TRRA) is a non-profit, membership organization that assists the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge in accomplishing its mission of wildlife management and conservation. Through special projects and public use opportunities, the TRRA strives to nurture the beauty and integrity that lies in the Tensas River Basin.
The Refuge: The Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge is one part of a network of refuges devoted to conserving and restoring increasingly scarce habitat for native wildlife and migratory birds. The refuge is nestled in the Tensas River Basin located in northeastern Louisiana. Established in 1980, Tensas River NWR was acquired in an effort to conserve the largest privately-owned tract of bottomland hardwoods remaining in the Mississippi Delta.
