Special Olympics Nebraska has various designations for Volunteers.  Most of our volunteers for the Omaha Tennis Buddies Program are Category A Volunteers.


Category A Volunteer (requires a criminal background check)
Description: Coach, chaperone, unified partner

Category "A" volunteers are those who have regular, close physical contact with athletes; are in a position of authority or supervision of athletes; are in a position of trust of athletes; and/or handle substantial amounts of cash or other assets of athletes.  Examples include: Coaches, Chaperones and Unified Partners.  These volunteers are required to submit a signed, completed and truthful Volunteer Application.  The information submitted will be used to complete a criminal records check.

If you would like to become a Category "A" volunteer, there are two steps to the process.

     2).  Please print, complete and mail the Category A Volunteer Form to:

Criminal background checks are conducted on all individuals seeking volunteer opportunities that require one-on-one contact with Special Olympics Nebraska athletes or volunteers with administrative and fiscal authority.  


Day-Of-Event Volunteer
Description: Present awards, escort athletes, keep score, announce
Commitment: Part of the day of event

"Day of Event" volunteers present awards to athletes, escort athletes, keep score or times during competition, act as the announcer, etc.  All of these activities take place the day of the sporting event.  This is a great opportunity for individuals who want a small time commitment.  All volunteers are given a brief orientation prior to the day of the event.  All volunteer positions are easy to learn. . . no experience is necessary.
