Welcome! This site is maintained by a group of math professors at the U.S. Naval Academy: Gary Fowler, Sommer Gentry, Amy Ksir and Will Traves. We are looking for ways of developing metacognitive skills and habits of mind in our calculus students. We want to collaborate with others on developing and testing activities in this context that do this. Our goal is to made the products of this collaboration available to others. This website is the beginning. And maybe the end. Our project has three parts: 1. To create a repository (this website) of projects, activities, and strategies that can be easily used by USNA mathematics instructors, and which will work towards enhancing students' metacognitive skills. 2. To assess the use and effectiveness of these projects, activities, and strategies. 3. To create a community within which individual instructors can work to develop their own teaching and share their efforts with others. Projects Assessment Community |
