THE TEMPLE SQUARE CHORALE The Temple Square Chorale was organized in 1999 with Mack Wilberg as Music Director and Jerold Ottley and JoAnn Ottley, co- directing the training school. It is a preparation of new Choir members and the further training of present members. The members of the Temple Square Chorale change with each new three-month session. The Orchestra also provides accompaniment for the weekly radio and TV broadcasts of Music and the Spoken Word. Additionally, the Orchestra accompanies the Temple Square Chorale in its concerts and has provided the music for various Church productions such as Savior of the World. CONCERTS AND EVENTS There are many concerts and events on Temple Square, but one of the most remarkable is The annual Christmas Concert featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Orchestra at Temple Square and Bells on Temple Square in December. Christmas Time at Temple Square is simply magical. This concert is the perfect addition to the Holiday atmosphere there that is created by Christmas lights on Temple Square. There are other music programs on special occasions at the Conference Center, Savior of the World, World of Dance, Tesoros de las Americas to name just few. All year long there are programs at the Assembly Hall on Friday or Saturday nights. Those are usually listed on a small card available at the visitors centers. From the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas local high school and university choirs come in all afternoon and evening to entertain with Christmas carols at the JSMB, Conference Center, Church Office Building, and at the Assembly Hall. Currently and for the past two or three years a Temple Square Choir, consisting of the sister missionaries, sings out on the square. Also there is an annual "Sing Along" at the Delta Center where there is a 20 or so piece orchestra and a small choir singing the carols with the audience. It is a family thing, usually around the 10th of Dec. and free to the public. For more details on this and other events click here.
