RULESRankersRankers aren't like medals - they're not there to be pretty, or for you to show off to other people. Play them. We're not going to jump down you're throat if you slack off for a month, but do keep up the posts. We don't have posting reqs as such, but if you don't play a character enough the BoD will give you a warning. If you still fail to post, we'll either strip the character of their rank or kill them off. PetsTelgar is in the North. Firelizards and Whers are not readily available. Be sensible. You're character does NOT have nine firelizards and seven whers. I really wish that went without saying, but apparently... it doesn't. Also, while greens, blues and browns are more readily available, bronzes and golds will only be given to trusted players. And they're limited in number. ASK THE BoD BEFORE GIVING YOUR CHARACTER A METALLIC FLIT. This is in your best interests too - if you ask us first, we're more likely to say yes. ^_^ We will be keeping gold and bronze flits in a strict number to the number of chromatic flits in the Weyr. Firelizards are more likely to be associated with ranking characters. Think of it like owning a horse in our world. Rather expensive, and not the sort of thing everyone has.
Secondly, your Firelizard or Wher actually needs to be played - you can't just say your character has them, OR THEY WILL GO WILD. This is because fire lizards and whers are rather demanding creatures, and are likely to be close to their owners for a large portion of the time. They will interact with their owner, anyone their owner comes in contact with, and each other. Most Whers will be work whers only. No character with a wher may become a candidate. Riders will not Impress whers. Basically, unless your charcter has a good reason to have a Wher, they won't. Currently, we're capping the number of pets your charcter can own at 3, unless you have a really good reason. Wherries and tunnelsnakes are NOT pets, but if you want something odd, talk to us. We only bite the heads off characters, not players. PowerplayingProbably THE most important rule, and one of the three we will, never, ever bend, for any reason. For those of you who don't know what power-playing is, it's making anyone else's character do anything. You can't have any character you don't own do anything, no matter how small. You can't make them smile, you can't make them blink, you can't even say they were breathing, unless you have permission from the character's owner. The BoD will take complaints on Powerplaying seriously. You get two written warnings on this topic, and after that, steps will be taken. DragonsDragons have grown since the 9th Pass written about in Anne McCaffrey's novels. If you want a dragon outside these parameters, write to us, and we'll consider it. We have a stretch limit, and a shrink limit. If you want the smallest dragon on Pern, write up a good sheet and we'll talk. Current sizes are approximately as follows:
Also, those original five colours are ALL we will be accepting. No sport dragons. Send one in, and we will quite happily send them back to be re-written in a *normal* colour. Secondly, which gender can ride which colour. We're pretty laid back about this. We won't be taking any male goldriders, or female bronzers, but for the others... We're open. Just remember - female brownriders count as rank, and female blue riders are mini-rank. So play accordingly. Female brownriders and goldriders are only available through Impression, and are approximately as rare. Orientations and dragons:
