Home | Overview Are you tired of being broke? Do you really want a car, but can't even afford insurance? Or are you just craving a little independence from your parents? Maybe a part time job would help you out with these stresses. Task You are charged with a different kind of studying. Instead of a grade, your reward will be a part time job that you will earn some much needed cash from. The Process Start with the Pre-Search, read the pages and look up the resources. Get yourself educated. Move onto Searching..., Applications & Resumes, Interviews, and Think Outside the Box. Are your parents saying they don't want you to get a job because they are worried that it will interfere with school? Have them check out the For Parents section so they know the positive as well as the negative effects of having an employeed teen. Goal The goal of this webquest is to educate you on the process and expectations of entering the workforce for the first time. The deliverables include a resume, a reference page, and a greater understanding of the application process. Evaluation How will you be able to tell if the ideas in this webquest worked? With some effort, you should be employed! Reflection Consider the following questions: Were there a few ideas in this webquest that made you think twice about how you were originally planning to approach your job search? Have you already started applying for jobs and not had success? Are you considering putting into action some of the suggestions provided in this webquest? Do you have friends, siblings or classmates that have been looking for jobs and not had any luck? Can you recognize some things that they might be doing wrong? Does this give you incentive to approach your job search differently? Will you share this webquest with them to help them out too? |
