TEDx SelfDesign High: Co-inspiring the Future

How do you co-inspire the future? By sharing, connecting, laughing, and with tears and the first TEDx event at SelfDesign High on May 1, 2010 had it all. From accomplished speakers to thought provoking ukulele and banjo picking tunes; beat poetry to acting, movement, street art and storytelling, it was truly a multidimensional day of inspiration.
TEDx is an idea born from the popular TED Talks that provides groups of people an opportunity and the guidance to hold their own TED-like event.
Inspired by the SelfDesign High youth group ‘YUM’, our multigenerational TEDx event was live streamed across the globe by our own SelfDesign video team. If you missed it, you can still have a genuine TEDx experience by viewing event footage here.
The success and impact of this event, surprising even its organizers, left us wanting more, so stay tuned for future TEDx events. Maybe you will even consider being a speaker/ presenter yourself!

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local,
self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called
TEDx SelfDesign High, where x = independently organized TED event.
At our TEDxSelfDesign High event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion
and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program,
but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
This Tedx is hosted by SelfDesign High in Nelson, BC Canada.
