Teachers' Note: In the article, "Visual Velcro - Using Visuals to Make Learning Stick!," (Technology Integration for Teachers, Feb. 2011, Volume 15, No. 6) by Laura Ganley, "Visuals are processed many times faster than text and can convey feelings and subtlety that text often does not. The use of visuals in our teaching vastly improves student retention."
Rather than the long videos that used to be available to teachers, Ms. Ganley's suggestion is that videos should be "short and purposeful." The videos below fall into that description and support a wide variety of topics. Check them out!
- Scholastic Study Jams: "Jams" are short, informational videos or slides on a variety of math and science topics. Short assessments tell you whether you were listening to the subject...
- neoK12: A huge variety of videos, lessons and interactive games covering topics such as physical and life sciences, social studies, English and history.
- Math Videos: Ever have a situation where you think you know how to do something in math and then you get home and you can't remember? This site explains what the teacher already explained - and, unlike the teacher's instruction, you can play it over and over again. These videos cover fractions, percents, algebra, geometry and so much more.
