An important way of protecting is arming yourself and your children with knowledge of the dangers so that they can be avoided.
PBS Frontline DocumentaryiSafe.org- iSafe.org has some great resources for parents and schools including an
iParent newsletter that keeps you updated on current Internet safety
issues and video training for parents and teachers. (Most of the
resources on this site require you to register for an account to access
them.)
- Quick Links - in this area of the site you can acess webcasts
created by teens for teens and the iParent Times newsletter, and a
newsletter for children called iBuddy Times.
- iLearn Online - this is a portion of the site where you can access training videos to inform you about safety issues. There are training videos for educators (iLearn), parents (iParent), and seniors (iFifty+) to address their individual needs.
NetSmartz.org- Netsmartz.org is a great place for parents to inform themselves about how to teach Internet safety to their children.
- They have a section for parents with a wide range of online and print resources to learn from.
- NetSmartzKids.org
- this companion NetSmartzKids website has games and activities for
young children to teach them basics of Internet safety. It doesn't link
to resources outside of the site.
- Resources for teens - this portion of the site has some great short videos that can be watched with teens to learn about Internet safety issues.
