Please note: If you need to quickly convert a Word document into a PDF file then I strongly recomend you try PDF Online as a first port of call.
It will convert Microsoft Word files less than 2MB in size into a PDF file for free and then e-mail you the link to the resulting PDF.
If your Word file is more than 2MB and contains photos/images then try using Word's built in picture compression utility to reduce the file size first - Click here to learn how to do this.
If you need to do more with PDF's then please look at the list of tools below and also take a few minutes to watch the video on the right of this page

This adds a "PDF Printer" to your computer so that you can 'print' documents as PDF files as opposed to printing them out on paper.
- PDF Forge
Similar to Cute PDF - which one you use is down to personal preference.
- PDF Creator
Another tool that does the same job as Cute PDF & PDF Forge - this is the one I use on a daily basis.
Convert files to and from PDF format
- PDF 2 Word
This is a free online service that lets you upload a PDF file and then convert it to a Word Document for free.
- Smart Soft PDF to word converter

This free site converts any web page to a PDF file.
Embed or Link to PDFs easily
If you want someone else to read a PDF easily then you can upload it to Google Docs so they can read it on any piece of on-line enabled hardware, without having to have a PDF reader installed.
If the PDF is already hosted online somewhere else then you can use Google's Embeddable Document viewer to allow your recipient(s) to view the PDF document online easily. This also works with Power Points presentations that have been uploaded somewhere!
