There are a fair few free mind mapping tools available on-line.

Below you'll find a list of some of the best.

Web Based Mind Mapping
  • Mind42.com - Create, edit and share multiple Mind Maps via the Web.

You can watch a video of Mind42 being used
    here.

You can access a Mind 42 tutorial here.

  • Bubbl.us - Another free on-line mind map maker, again which one you choose comes down to personal taste.

You can watch a video of Bubble.us in action
    here.

You can also watch a complete tutorial on using Bubble.us here.
  • Mind Meister - You can sign up for a free basic account which lets you create and store 5 mind maps. A video of Mind Meister being used is here.

Mind Mapping Software (needs to be downloaded & installed)
  • Freemind - Open source software that you must download and install onto each machine you wish to use it on.  Alternatively you can install it onto a USB pen and use it anywhere.

    Click
here to watch a video of Freemind in action.

  • XMind - Another piece of open source mind mapping software.  This is very similar to Freemind and so it's just down to personal taste as to which one you should use.
