Background

Using video

Use video for

  • Videotape students explaining the experiment or solving a particular problem
  • Videotape an exercise or sport for feedback on technique
  • Create alternate endings to a book or story
  • Advertise clubs or groups
  • Make a commercial or trailer about a book they just read
  • Interview an expert or students about a particular topic
  • Have students create a how-to video in order to demonstrate knowledge
  • Linking to a specific start point in a video:

Only want a segment of a video and don't want the whole thing to play?

  • Alter the embed code by appending the following code at the end of the YouTube video URL: “#t=02m20s”
  • For example, a url would look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fZ5bYfErdk#t=02m20 s to go to the spot at 2 minutes and 20 seconds in.
  • It’s important that you use two digit numbers, ie: 02 for 2, otherwise it will not work.

Using photos to make a movie

  • Make small slideshows in iPhoto with sliding Doors theme and loop them in iMovie.
