The way I see it, elongated coins come from three sources: 1. people; 2. places; and 3. things. Online, it's common practice to refer to the sources of ECs as simply "locations." That's too bad since that word suggests only places or more specifically "places where you can find a working penny machine," which is a hot topic for many collectors. I'm not knocking locations -- they're the way most collectors get started! But don't forget all the people who create and distribute their own ECs that don't necessarily come from a particular place. Or all the things, especially events, that had a particular place but only for a little while. Many of these produced great ECs that are highly prized now!
So, I've reorganized the attached report to show the sources of my ECs. First comes a list of people, then a list of places, then a list of things. Fair warning, I don't have every elongated from every source, so my lists are far from complete! But they might include information that's new to you. To help correct them, please email me.
Happy Collecting!
