EVENT REPORT: iHobby Expo October 23rd & 24th, 2010

After having a blast at the iHobby Expo 2009, I jumped at the chance to participate in the ChiBots display once again this year. Just like before this event was amazing with no shortage of exciting hobby displays and demonstrations as well as lots of exciting robot action between both the Chibotica and Mecha-Mayhem competitions. I brought the Marble Maze back but not after making several significant upgrades in order to improve the reliability of the maze contraption while also adding more theatrics for the visitors to watch. The maze didn't run flawlessly during the entire weekend but I feel it performed very well considering how many people tried their luck at the maze in hopes of winning a gumball. The ChiBots members were quite impressed however and awarded the Marble Maze 2nd place in the Robot Talent Show!

The ChiBots booth was filled with numerous other exciting displays including Mike Davey's Turing Machine and Steve Hassenplug's Monster Chess. I greatly enjoyed watching these operate and talking with Steve, Mike, and other ChiBots members about all things robot. Unfortunately no robotics suppliers attended the Expo this year but the visitors still got a healthy dose of robots between the ChiBots display and the CRCA's robot battles.

Thanks to everyone at ChiBots for hosting such an awesome event and allowing me to participate in your demonstrations!
