Noah Maxwell was born on February 25th, 1981 in Havertown, PA. He began studying martial arts at the Siu Lum Studio which is near his house, and received his instructor's ranking on August 16, 1997. His training at the studio consists of two years learning Southern Style Tiger-Crane and Yang style taijiquan under Grandmaster Steve L. Sun, while the bulk of his training has been spent learning Praying Mantis under Master Paul Sun.

Noah feels that kung fu has helped him acheive the most important things in his life, far beyond the mere forms he has learned. Kung fu training has inscribed the values of patience and persistence into his personality. Through his involvement in kung fu, Noah finds a social sphere of interaction wich impacts on his approach to other aspects of his life. Through the mental and physical lessons of his practice, Noah feels that he has learned to be able to deal with everyday situations in a more effective manner.

One of Noah's main activities outside of martial arts practice is weight training. Noah's approach to weight training has helped teach him patience in the slow building of muscular strength. This is an aspect of physical training which, as an instructor, Noah feels is of fundamental importance in martial arts development.

Noah has taught at the Siu Lum Studio Headquarters, Weston Fitness, Siu Lum Studio-Cherry Hill, and the Kaiserman JCC.
