Hello, we are Team Good Investment
As dedicated students of the University of Central Florida (UCF) we would like to welcome you to join our team.
Our Mission:
In an effort to contribute our personal resources for the good of our community and to help save our natural habitat, Team Good Investment will directly work in our coastal ecosystem along with the help of volunteers that are to be recruited from the community. With this effort we will fulfill our motto, which is the same as our name, "Good Investment."
Our Goal
To restore a quarter mile of shoreline along the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge by removing pepper trees that are threatening the biodiversity of the ecosystem. Our goal is to accomplish this by April 1st 2009.
We plan to fulfill our mantra of "Good Investment":
- Investing in our future by raising awareness of the environment among the local population by:
- Recruiting and connecting volunteers with the earth, for the purpose of encouraging future individual actions.
- Spreading knowledge of the effects of the completed project by spreading it through local media.
- Invest in the Earth's future by:
- Help restore native ecosystems and increase biodiversity.
- Beautify park land for citizens enjoyment.
- Improve aquatic habitats for native fish.
- Prevent future erosion from hurricanes and other swell causing systems.
The stake holders in our projects are our client, The Marine Resource Council, as well as every member of our community, and the wildlife itself. This project was chosen as justifiable need for the stake holders because:- We will aid in the prevention of erosion from hurricanes to protect the shoreline.
- Bring back native wildlife (birds and butterflies for example) by restoring the natural habitat they need to survive.
- We can involve community to help everyone become a part of restoring our natural coastal areas.
- We can have a concrete, noticeable impact by cataloging the area's biodiversity before and after the project.
- The result will be something everyone involved can always return to and appreciate.
