Business Development
· Over 90% of proposed statements of work and cost projections accepted by clientele, resulting in increased revenues and expansion of Document and Design’s (D2) business base.
· Promoted and Marketed D2’s services, resulting in a 15 fold growth in client base in 16 months.

Product Management
· Directed a team of engineers and project managers to identify and launch software solutions for Gateway Consumer systems, resulting in over $200 million in yearly revenues with significant profit margins.
· Advocated improvements in developing and testing Gateway’s consumer training software, resulting in annual savings exceeding $13 million.
· In partnership with British Telecom, developed a service for customers who contracted with Gateway as their internet service provider to access email from their cell phones in the United Kingdom. The service was copied by competitors in England.

Human Factors Management
· Championed user-centered design for DST’s enterprise applications resulting in a positive impact on the development process.
· Co-founder of Gateway’s human factors group, resulting in improved usability of setup, documentation, and operation of all computer systems.
· Guided a cross functional team to design both the software and hardware user interfaces, for Gateway’s Destination Digital Media Center, a forerunner in convergence systems marketed to consumers.
· Secured R&D funds exceeding $2.6 million from NASA Headquarters on Johnson Space Center’s behalf; as a result Lockheed personnel for the NASA laboratory increased from 7 to over 20.
· Authored the human factors section of Lockheed’s proposal to NASA, the contract totaled $400 million. The successful bid represented approximately $40 million in human factors work over 5 years.
· Co-editor of a book published by Morgan Kaufmann, Human-Computer Interface Design: Success Cases, Emerging Methods and Real-World Context, coeditors represented NASA, Lockheed, and the University of Colorado. |

Software Management
· Established, staffed and managed a new software engineering department whose budget exceeded $5 million annually; concurrently a remotely located pre-existing department was suspended. All departmental responsibilities were fulfilled without downtime.
· Implemented process improvements for the development of images (operating systems, applications, drivers, bios) used to load all desktop, portables, and servers sold by Gateway, resulting in greater consistency and accuracy.
· Initiated a program to install critical Microsoft updates on systems with Windows XP prior to purchase, resulting in Microsoft rating Gateway systems 97% secure, more than any other original equipment manufacturer in the world.
· Managed the development, launch, and maintenance of the new, web-based Gateway Engineering Information Resource System (GEIRS); an internal product tracking system. Reduced Gateway’s product development time and improved communications with qualified vendors allowing them access and input to GEIRS.
· Launched in record time Microsoft’s Windows 2003, Red Hat Linux and SuSE Linux to meet the demands of Gateway’s growing server market, resulting in increased offerings.
· Led cross functional efforts to launch both Microsoft’s Media Center and Tablet PC operating systems; Gateway was one of the first to market these new operating systems.
· Worked closely with marketing to identify application requirements and led development activities for pre-installed software which promoted purchase of extended warranties and ink cartridges from Gateway. |
