Rules and Procedures for the Administration of the Placement Exam for Minors

Procedure for homeschooled students who want to enter the Public Education System.

1.  Students under 16 years old who are interested in entering a public school, are to be referred to their regional or the Central Unit of Equivalent Studies.

The Unit of Equivalent Studies will authorize a provisional placement, for a term of two months, according to the age of the student.   With this placement the Unit will recommend the corresponding placement exam, specifying that the student has come from homeschooling.  The school director will procede with the provisional placement of the student.  The director will request the placement test and will present all the required documents, including a copy of the provisional placement, as recommended by the Unit of Equivalent Studies.  This application will be submitted to the regional Unit of Placement Exams for Minors Coordinator.  When the school director receives the results, he/she will make the official grade placement of the student.

Students of Early Education (K-3) will be given diagnostic tests for those grades at the school the parents are interested in.

2.  It is recommended that the placement process is begun at the beginning of the school year in order to achieve a proper placement of the student.
