To apply for the Nutritional Assistance Program (PAN) of the Department of Family, you, as the homeschooling parent or legal guardian, may fill out the section for homeschoolers to certify school attendance. Upon the renewal of the PAN application, the agent may require additional evidence of homeschooling. This need may simply be satisfied in the course of their interview with you. If it isn't, however, they may ask for further evidence and any of the following should be sufficient: sample of child's work, list of resources used, letter from your local support group. The ADSEF/PAN division understands that ignorance about the policy still exists on the local level and they are interested in clearing this up as difficulties with our community arise. Therefore, if you are told something contrary to what we have mentioned above as being the policy, please feel free to call Sra. Luz Guitierrez (or Sra. Raquel Nieves) of the ADSEF/PAN division at: 787-289-7600 ext. 2401, 2400. |
