How to build a Google Map

First step: register for a free Google account. Think about how you want your email address to read, because it's the basis of your google site.

Then, once you are in iGoogle, go to Google Maps.  Search for the business in the search box of Google Maps (just the name of the business and the zip code or city should do it). When the list appears on the left, choose the one you want and a bubble will appear over the map.  In the bubble, choose "Save to My Maps", then you have to choose "create a new map".

Then a new bubble pops up, where you can edit the title, address and make comments.  Here you can click on an icon to use (I used knive/fork, basket, etc.  A blue balloon is default).  Then "OK".  It should appear as a list on the left side.  Then just repeat, using the search bar again.

Click Save occasionally (above the entries) and then Done. You have choices as to who to invite as collaborators and if you want to share with the world or just a few people.

TIP: collect the names of the businesses you want to enter first and put them in your chosen order.  Search in this order, because you cannot sort or alphabetize the list later.   Latest entries always go to the bottom of the list.
