About the website: Welcome to TBIbasicinfo.com! Here you will find basic information on traumatic brain injury (TBI). The site also has a special section explaining the impact TBI has on American Troops. The section serves to help spread awareness of the dangers troops face while fighting and the battle many continue to face upon returning home. I encourage all to read this section and hopefully walk away more aware and more thankful to those who risk their lives everyday for our freedom. About the creator: Hello, my name is Elizabeth Hironimus and I am currently an undergraduate senior at SUNY Geneseo. As a Communicative Disorders and Science major, I took special interest in the area of traumatic brain injury and sought to learn more by enrolling in an independent study. It was through the help of my professor, Dr. Linda Spencer, that I was able to pursue the research and develop such a website. Creating this website has been an enlightening experience. The information I have compiled is only minimal compared to the plethora that is available and that which is still being studied. The section on TBI and American troops was a very important piece to my research. After coming to understand what the troops face on the battlefield and coming home it fuels my passion more for further research in the area of TBI. The field of speech-language pathology has much to offer to those with traumatic brain injury. It is my hope that the information contained on the site will inspire others to take an interest in understanding TBI and to help raise awareness. Many special thanks to Dr. Linda Spencer. Without her inspiration, time, and guidance, this project would not have been possible. Thank you to all the Veterans and those serving at home and abroad in our Armed Forces, you are never forgotten.
