Being a nurse can be a lot of work. It is really hard to say what a typical day for a nurse is considering they must be in many places when called and do different things and tasks. First off, being a nurse is not for everyone. In order to be a nurse you would have to be “comfortable with anatomy, the human body, and medical procedures.” Medical procedures can consist of things like giving people shots and administering medicine to people. Also being a nurse requires some characteristic qualities that will help them along the way. For example, a nurse must have the ability to be able to work under pressure in stressful situations. They must have organizational skills and they have to be able to work with people, as well as their patients and doctors. This is key if you want to be a nurse. A nurse can have up to a 10- hour shift, which can be a lot of work. This profession takes a lot of flexibility and physical work. A nurse will receive relevant updates on their patients and instructions regarding the patients also. Then the nurse will go check on each patient that they have received. What he or she will also do is ask those questions about their medical history and ask about their symptoms if they have any at all. Basically, a nurses’ responsibility is the monitoring of the patients and if something changes about them, then it is their duty to report it so a doctor can come and check on them. In order to become a nurse, the person must start off in high school, and maintain good grades. Earning good grades in high school will “demonstrate your capacity to handle the intensive level of academic study needed to get through a nursing degree program.” The classes you must have are algebra, biology, chemistry, and physics. But, if you want to attend a nursing school you have to do some research because every school has different requirements. To be able to go to nursing school, you must have either a high school diploma or a GED. These schools are looking for people with “temperaments suited to nursing,” such as compassion, common sense, and the ability to handle stress under difficult situations. Also most of these nursing schools will want you to pass an entrance exam that will measure your likelihood of being a successful nurse. There are three different ways that a person can get their nurse degree. The first is the four year bachelors of science in nursing. The second is the associate’s degree in nursing and the third a hospital diploma plan. The hospital diploma plan is when you work in a hospital with other nurses and educators. A nurse’s salary can be $54,049 to $65,105 a year. Some women claim to make more than that. The median a nurse can make is $59,859 a year. If there are any bonuses for the nurse she or he can make $49,301 to $70,619. So the bonuses would be $156 more. Nurses get benefits in their bonuses, social security, and disability, health care, pension, and time off. The money that they give out for this can go from $156-$7,912. I do not believe that being a nurse could be a dead end job. There are many opportunities for nurses and there are challenges almost every day for them. They help people and monitor them all the time. Nurses even have bonds with their patients, so there is always someone new to meet and learn about. pportunity wise, they always have something that they can learn because there are many different types of nurses. Knowing how to do more things means a boost in your income. Plus people go to school to be a nurse because their motive is t help people and take care of them. So I think that anyone who wants to be nurse knows what this job will be worth the while because they are doing what they want and is making good money doing it. But then on the other hand some people might have different opinions about this. Some people who think that being a nurse has came up to be a dead end job, probably didn’t do any research on what a nurse is to do. And therefore they set them selves up by not knowing that the job would be stressful sometimes and requires a lot of work. The advantages of being a nurse are that you get paid well and you have many bonuses and benefits. Also you help and monitor people all day so you wont really ever be bored with what you have to do because there is always a new task and a lot of running around to do. That’s only if you like that kind of stuff. The disadvantages of being a nurse are that it is really time consuming and it is a lot of work and physical work. You have to be flexiable if you want to be a nurse. When someone needs you, you have to be there to help out with what ever it maybe and it can be stressful sometimes. So I believe the trade off for this career would be high earnings versus the time demand.
