Welcome to the Child Development Specialist program at James Rumsey Technical Institute webpage.  This program is designed for secondary juniors and seniors who are interested in a career involving young children.  Prerequisite and/or concurrent classes for this program include child development, infant development, prenatal development, parenting, or some form of introductory child development or parenting class.  Good attendance is a requirement.

This program is based on the adult Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialist program and is credentialed through the Department of Labor.  There are four semesters to complete the program, requiring enrollment for two years. However, each semester has a separate recognition for completion.
