The park encompasses several island habitats which provide sanctuary for a significant range of terrestrial and aerial animals, not least a troop of Proboscis monkeys on Gaya island.

The underwater realm provides perhaps the most stunning opportunities for the naturalist; although not on a par with the world renowned sites in Sabah of Layang-Layang and Sipadan, still TARP provides an amazing, year-round selection of marine life.
