“To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield” - Tennyson
| I am passionate about two things - To understand unexplained phenomena around us and to inspire children to strive towards their dreams. Following these interests, I have spent the past few years as an aerospace engineer, understanding the aerodynamics of bird flight. Birds are an ideal mix of grace, beauty and aerodynamic efficiency. The added incentive is that we still don't know how they fly! Uncovering some of these mysteries and perhaps applying some of the answers to general aerodynamics is a subject that fascinates me. My passion to inspire students was set ablaze by a few months spent in my grandfather's school - Chiragh Grammar School. I was completely won over by the children's bright-eyed enthusiasm to learn and the invigorating challenge of directing their steps towards higher rungs.I hope to encourage students to believe that each one is capable of much greatness. After studying the lives of women Nobel laureates in science, MacArthur award winners, painters such as Van Gogh and Gauguin, writers such as Charles Dickens, Leo Tolstoy and Jack London and leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Mohammad and Napoleon, I took away that the acquirable essence of genius is to have a spirit of curiosity and learning, to courageously follow one's passions, to build a library of analytical ways of approaching a problem and to have an unshakable belief in oneself. I have founded a non-profit organization, Iridescent that strives to bring science and engineering to inner-city schools through exciting hands-on activities. I am also a painter and delight in expressing myself through colors and different mediums. My greatest challenge is to paint so that the beholder is moved to feel as I do. I still haven't reached that stage, but the journey is vitalizing and am always upheld by the struggles of Van Gogh and his eventual triumph. You can see some of my paintings here. |
