10 Pin Bowling

Introduction

We meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at Strykers Bowling in Tamworth, at 10:15am for a 10:30am start.  If people can get there before then all the better as it then becomes less of a rush and helps us to get organised on time.

Bowling lasts for approx 1h 30m as the norm, and it becomes somewhat a social occasion as we usually have a lunch arranged at a local hostelry.  After all, we're a "Friendship Group".

The only thing I would ask is if you want to eat then you contact me beforehand so that I may let the eating establishment know.  Also if you do order a meal and cannot attend for any reason then it's up to you to cancel and failure to do so may leave you liable for any additional expenditure we incur.

By becoming a member of Tamworth Friendship Centre, you will benefit from becoming a member of Strykers Bowling which entitles you to a reduction in the costs of games.

Charges for the 2012 season are £1.50 per game, once you join the club, and we get a discount of 10% on beverages in the Wimpy bar, when it's open during the school holiday!

Nuneaton Over 60’s Bowling Tournament - March 18th, 2011.

A group of us, 13 in all as it happened, went to Nuneaton for the tournament and our scores are as shown below.  Some did well and others not so well, but we all enjoyed the day which is what it's all about.  This is one of the highest turnouts we've had for a few years, and it was good to see.  Overall there was over 100 people taking part from 6 or 7 different Friendship Centres, so that was good.

A number of us had a good first game, but dropped off somewhat in the second game, but young Cliff surprised us all with a magnificent 170 in his second game, with what must have been a personal best!  If he hadn't wasted the two shots down the gutter in the last frame it could have been even higher.  Never mind Cliff, a little more practice!

I would just like to say "Well Done Tamworth, you did us proud!"

There were 57 Gents and 46 Ladies bowling in the tournament and the overall positions in each group are shown at the end of each line as follows.

National 10 Pin Tournament - September 29th, 2010 at Strykers in Tamworth.

The National tornament took place with a disappointing 4 teams partaking as can be seen from the results below.  Having said that we still had 41 people playing and a good time was had by all.

As expected Hinckley & Burbage took the team prize along with the ladies singles but it was our very own John Thompson that came good and won both the men's trophy and he was the top scorer with a magnificent 395, way out in front of any other players on the day!  Well Done John!!

We thank all those that took part in the Tournament and trust you enjoyed your day!
