Beginning of the YEAR:

School begins on August 26th with a 12:00 P.M. dismissal.  August 27th is also a 12:00 P.M. dismissal.  **No lunch will be served on those days.  Friday, August 28th is a 3:00 P.M. dismissal day with lunch being served.

Things to know:

I will send home your child's work on the first day of each week.  Along with your child's take home folder, you will find a short, yet informative weekly letter.  Please return your child's folder as soon as you can.  Also make sure you have signed or initialed the quarter paper inside the folder.

 Make-Up Work

**When you child is gone from school, they will have 2 days for every day missed to hand in the work from when they were absent.  Example:  If your child was absent 2 days, they will have 4 days to complete the missed work.

Attendance:

Attendance is VERY important.  Please be to school on time.

  • First Bell 7:55 A.M.
  • Tardy Bell 8:00 A.M.
  • School is dismissed at 3:00 P.M.

Assignment Books:

Linden PTA provides assignment books for all 4th graders.  This assignment book will come home each day with your child.  I will check the assignment book to see that assignments are written in them at the end of the day.  I ask that parents have reviewed the assignment book and possible homework and initial that day's assignments.  Please feel free to write comments.

Homework Policy:

If homework is not completed on time, I take an additional -1 off for each day this assignment is late.  Assignments not handed into the basket by 8:15 A.M. each morning are late.

Physical Education (P.E.)

Students must wear proper shoes and clothes.

Mrs. Prince will be the P.E. teacher this year.

P.E. is on C, D, and E days.

Music

  • Orchestra is on C Day mornings. Katie McShane-Schwieger is the instructor.
  • Vocal Music days are A and B Days. Mrs. Smith is this year's Music teacher.

Library

We will have library check out once a week.

Students are allowed 2 books at one time.

Library day is B Day.

 

Art

Students have Art once a week.  It will be on D Day.  Mr. Kiefer is the Art teacher this year.

 

Science Simple Machines Project

A 4th grade Nebraska State Standard requires ALL 4th graders in the state of Nebraska to create and build a simple machine.  This project needs to include one of the following simple machines:  lever, inclined plane, wheel and axle, screw, wedge, and pulley. 

 

**This project will not include work time at school.  Parents are allowed to help their child, but I strongly encourage your child to complete the majority of the project on their own. 

**The simple machine project will be due in early October, be watching for more information.

Multiplication and Division Mastery

**Mastery of both multiplication and division is very important.  If you need a set of multiplication flashcards, please let me know.  I would be happy to send a copy home for you to have.

 

Oral Presentation

All 4th graders in the state of Nebraska are required to give an oral presentation lasting at least 1 minute long.  More information about this oral presentation will be coming home in early March.  It will be due in either late March or early April.
