Three local artists connected through work and leisure: Neil Mawdsley, Chris Wells and Derek Holley are staging their autumn exhibition down at Saltash Waterside. The exhibition of paintings runs from the 6th Sept to the 19th October at the Ashtorre Community Centre Café.

Neil Mawdsley, who organised the exhibition will be painting on site on the first Wednesday 7th Sept, and says he’s happy to chat over a coffee about anything arty. Neil runs private watercolour courses throughout the year at the Centre. His classes start again on the 28th Sept. ‘At the moment I have been experimenting with combinations of Watercolour and Acrylics to develop a series of paintings about moorland but I have a wide variety of paintings on show both framed and unframed.

Chris Wells is a teacher of art in Saltash. His Illustrated Map of Saltash is widely available and on show in the town. He is also an accomplished painter of both traditional and abstract painting. For this show there are a range of studies including the Tamar Bridges.
Derek Holley’s paintings are traditional watercolours of local estuary and sky. Derek’s connection is that he used to be in Neil’s watercolour group. Neil says ‘He was an exceptional student and often had two projects on the go when others did the one!’

Neil used to work in the same school as Chris and over time they have compared painting ideas.

The Ashtorre Community Centre Cafe is open from 10am -4pm daily.
