2003
2008
I've lost 140 lbs this millennium.
It seems like an eternity.
My goal was to be an athlete by the time I turned 35. I'm way ahead of schedule:
These outdoor photographs were taken the summer of 2003. I was just under 250 pounds.
In addition to being an amazing model and erotic artist, Sunshine is also a writer and happiness coach who would like nothing better than to help you achieve your fitness dreams.
Sunshine used to weigh over 300 pounds. She isn't sure about the exact number because her scale only went up to 280 pounds and she threw it out after it swung 15 pounds past that mark. The same problem exists for photographs; she is having a devil of a time finding "before" pictures for her "before and after" series. For some reason, all those fat pictures mysteriously disappeared. One suspects arson...
Rest assured, however, that Sunshine knows all about health, nutrition, and weight loss....as well as a few other things about happiness in general.
Circa 2002, I tried to slit my wrists.
Since then, I've read a few things...
And tried a shit-load of new stuff.
Keep Trying
This is the cornerstone of my new life philosophy:
If nothing you do has worked, try something else.
The key is to try anythingand everything, especially things you (only think) you can't or shouldn't do. The reality is that no one is going to stop you, except you.
In truth, I really did kill myself that day. The person I am today is beyond the wildest hopes and dreams of the sad girl I used to be. I'm still sort of fat, and I still suffer from depression, but I am getting better every day.
Before, I didn't think happiness was possible. Now, I am happy a surprising amount of the time. I hope that I can somehow share some of the things that have worked for me.
The secret of success and fame
The secret to success and fame is to be fully oneself. Only when a person is truly living up to their individual potential can they achieve success. This entails having higher standards and sticking to them. It also involves a little self work.
Begin by stripping away all the conditioning and training that is forced upo...
More..Book Review: Learned Optimism & Buddhism
This is the story of a book, a philosophy, and how the two are inextricably intertwined in my mind. The book is Learned Optimism by Martin E.P. Seligman, Ph.D. The philosophy is Buddhism. Both were initially first recommended to me by the first shrink I ever saw twice.
She recommended both book and philosophy highly. I didn't listen...
More..Learned Optimism, the synopsis
When things happen, we choose how to react. Usually, this is an unconscious choice we make by default based on how we're wired. That wiring can be changed, however, with the addition of some basic logic:
Some events make me unhappy.
I can't change those events.
I can change the way I perceive those events.
Changing ...
Learned Optimism was incredibly influential upon me, as was Wayne
C. Dyer; first his book "Your Erroneous Zones" and now a great
seminar on the Power of Intention:
I was able to dredge a lot out of The Secret and its predecessor "The Science of Getting Rich" as well:
I'm not giving these last two 100% unqualified endorsements, of course, but there is definitely some good stuff in there, despite the excessively materialistic slant.
The Secret, in particular, is responsible for changing many of my friend's lives for the better. When it first came out, it was a free download for the first month or so. I burned that bad boy and gave a copy to everyone I cared about for Christmas that year. Those of us who weren't skeptical asses are all incomparably happier than we were, what, less than two years ago?
The real key is gratitude. Just be happy for what you've got while
going for what you want and things will almost magically keep getting
better. It really is that simple.
Way of the Peaceful Warrior, by Dan Millman
Way of the Peaceful Warrior, a Book That Changes Lives is the first of twelve self-help books written by Dan Millman. Prior to becoming a writer, Millman's professional background was gymnastics and teaching, as was that of his lead character. This book is a fictional autobiography, which he categorized in an interview wit...

- I have never liked wearing a bra but I never thought it could be bad
for my health. I was researching online to try to determine my bra size
but instead uncovered evidence suggesting that not only is wearing a
bra unnecessary but it may actually cause physical harm.

Bad Habits
I began smoking the summer of 1989, when I was thirteen years old. I told myself I could quit at any time. Seventeen years later, I finally quit smoking at 12:00 am September 25th, 2006.
It still seems unreal that I'm a nonsmoker now. Even though I don't miss cigarettes at all, being a nonsmoker didn't fit in with my s...
- How I stopped biting my nails
- So how did I finally quit biting my fingernails? Only one thing ever worked for me: Love. Love your nails. Love yourself. What gave me the psychological strength to quit was a friend's observation that nail biting was his least favorite of "all the self-destructive habits".

helps to first try to understand the habit. What benefits does it
provide? Why do you do it in the first place? We can list pros and cons

side that requires no effort on our part.
Why do you want to break the habit? Is it your idea or someone ...
More.. The irony of this article is that I still refuse to wear sunscreen to this day, as it is actually toxic and I am better off just avoiding getting burnt. This, and many other wild notions, comes from my habit of reading Dr. Mercola's newsletter, which may be found at:
One of the questionable perks of my job is that I get to see a lot of naked old people. At first, this was a little uncomfortable and I would politely not look while I was helping them get dressed. After awhile I got kind of numb to it and now my curiosity is bringing me to make some observations.- More...
Food
I have been noticing fat on other people lately. It looks like it has been placed there as an afterthought, almost as if there wasn't room for it in the original design. Like clutter hurriedly shoved into a closet before company arrives, it threatens the integrity of the bulging door seams before spilling out and encroaching upon the rest of the room. It makes me think of alien invaders, taking over a host body and distorting it beyond recognition. Only this attack of the body snatchers isn't sudden and external, rather it comes slowly and with its delicious friends: fat, sugar and processed foods.
Vitamin supplements are not a substitute for a wholesome diet. No pill can replace the body's own internal magic as it converts food into fuel. Think about this for a moment: What exactly does one need to eat each day in order to get the maximum amount of nutrients and the minimum amount of leftover waste? Is there a bare m...
- Inarguably, some foods are definitely nutritionally superior to others. That does not necessarily impart "super powers" to these foods, as some might hope. The very idea of a "super food" implies that eating it will somehow magically undo all the damage caused by regular consumption of non-super foods.

Food Combining, or Trophology
Food Combining for a Healthy Digestive System
In a nutshell, food combining maximizes digestion. It is also the preferred diet to prepare one's body for fasting and detoxification.
A blind man, a man with one leg, and a soccer mom walk into a bar. They bet the bartender a drink if he can correctly guess which of them is diabetic. The punch line is that they all are and what sounds like a bad joke is actually my family. We are fat and we are sick. This is my future and that of millions of Americans unless we completely change the way we think about food.

Happiness
- Ways to boost your natural endorphins and general happiness
- Endorphins are Nature's club drug. Most drugs that make us feel good do so by endorphin release. Unlike prescription, over-the-counter, and street drugs; endorphins are produced within the human body for free, and without all the icky side effects. There is no question that endorphins make us feel good. So how do we har... More..

EFT (Tapping)
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a psychotherapeutic tool that has been described as pseudoscientific by its critics. The theory behind EFT is that negative emotions are caused by disturbances in the body's energy field and that tapping on the meridians while thinking of a negative emotion alters the body's energy field, restoring it to "balance." Critics have suggested that its utility stems from its more traditional cognitive components, such as distraction from negative thoughts, rather than from manipulation of energy meridians. ---Wikipedia
EFT, or Tapping, feels great and is a natural addition to bedroom play. I have found that it is in fact difficult to distinguish where
tapping ends and massage
or other stronger tactile stimulation begins.
