FAQs

Who is allowed to get tutoring?
Any student currently enrolled at Taft College can come in for On-Campus Tutoring or schedule an appointment for Distance Learning Tutoring.

Am I limited on how many days I can see a tutor?
No. You may meet with a tutor as many times as you wish. However, while we do take walk-ins. priority will go to the student with a  pre-scheduled appointment.

How do I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment online by clicking "Make an Appointment Online" to the left. Or you can call us (661.763.7975 or 661.763.7957), email us (TaftTutors@gmail.com), or stop by the labs to make an appointment in person.

What if I make an appointment and then decide I can't come in after all?
Not a problem.  Please call the labs to cancel or to reschedule the appointment.

Where are tutors located?
Tutors are located on-campus within the Taft College Library. Once you walk through the big glass double doors, keep walking straight past the reference desk. The labs are located behind the reference desk.

How long is a tutoring session?
Because we have such a high demand for time with a tutor, tutoring sessions last up to one hour.

What should I bring with me to my tutoring appointment?
When you come to your appointment, it is best to remember to bring any and all material related to what you are going to be tutored on. Examples of this are: textbook, notes, assignment, writing rubric, formula sheets, work you have already completed, and any specific questions you feel you need to ask the tutor.

When should I make an appointment?
You should always try to make an appointment the week before just to ensure that the tutor will be available at the time you need. You can make multiple appointments within a two-week period.
