Our Purpose

To promote and support the maritime interest and commerce in the Puget Sound Region.

To support existing business and related services, including the American Merchant Marine and the Port of Tacoma.
 
To foster understanding and cooperation in the public and private sectors with regard to maritime issues.
 
To support the objectives and program of The Propeller Club of the United States.
 
To maintain support of student education through scholarship funding.

Membership

For over six decades, prominent maritime community members have used the Propeller Club to network and keep current on new developments.  Every segment of the local maritime industry is represented in Propeller Club membership.
  • Tacoma Propeller Club membership reflects various aspects of the maritime industry around the United States and the world.  This audience represents present and potential customers for members of the Tacoma maritime community. 

  • General meetings and events present an opportunity to showcase Tacoma's maritime community, the Port of Tacoma's facilities and new endeavors to a broad sampling of the maritime community.

  • The International Convention is annually sponsored in a port with a Propeller Club.  It is an excellent method of presenting the Port of Tacoma in a favorable light with reference to the other ports in the United States where the convention has been held.

  • Because the Tacoma Propeller Club organizes monthly meetings and extra fundraising events, the benefits to be derived by the area maritime community are gained with minimal effort on the part of local companies, groups and associations.

  • The relationship with the Sea Scouts and the awarding of scholarship funds can be viewed as community service projects, highlighting the many good things the maritime industry and the Tacoma Propeller Club are doing for the community.

  • Some of the proceeds from extra events go to worthy community service efforts supported by the Tacoma Propeller Club.
  • Members are recognized through the distribution of our roster and directory.

  • The Tacoma Propeller Club, in general, receives a significant amount of exposure in the local maritime community.
