BPI – BPI Standards have been crafted with one important fact in mind: The house is a system and everything is connected. The relationship between all interconnected systems of the house is the key to its overall performance, efficiency, and durability. Moreover, home performance is essential to the health, safety, and comfort of occupants. Certified BPI professionals are trained to quickly target, diagnose, and solve household performance problems such as mold, mildew, ice dams, drafts, and high utility bills to name a few. · BPI Building Analyst (BA) – This five-day Building Analyst course will teach you basic principles of building science to assess energy efficiency in a home while also monitoring conditions that have a direct impact on human health and safety. BPI Standards emphasize the 'house-as-a-system' approach to inspecting a home, meaning that all systems are interconnected from the HVAC equipment, to the envelope, the foundation, walls, roof, doors and windows. You will learn how to use diagnostic equipment such as the blower door and the combustion analyzer to ensure systems are functioning together correctly to maximize home performance, comfort, energy efficiency, safety and durability. An energy auditor with BPI certification gives homeowners peace of mind knowing the professional meets the national standards of the Building Performance Institute having passed both a written and a hands-on field exam. · BPI Envelope Professional (EP) for Building Analysts - This three-day Envelope Professional training is only available to people who have attended the Building Analyst Course. Topics covered in the Building Analyst course will be reviewed, and new material concerning responsibilities of a weatherization crew leader will be covered, as well. The training will conclude with the standard BPI Envelope Professional written test and in-field test--including combustion safety testing--thus resulting in the Envelope Professional certification if both tests are completed successfully.
