Ahhh spring is here, can you feel it!
And with it we lost an hour of our sleep last weekend, the spring breakers have started to invade our town and it's getting hotter by the day.

Save the date - this year we have planned a festive Christmas Brunch at the beautiful treetop ballroom at jungle Island on
Sunday, December 11th 2011 from 11 AM
A little jungle birdie told us that Santa will visit and bring goodies for our littlest members who can recite a little "versli" (poem) or song for "Samichlaus"!
After the brunch everybody is invited to a "walk in the park" to discover all the amazing animals and sights Jungle Island has to offer for young & old.

A BIG thank you to everybody who attended and helped make our national day party at Fritz & Franz Bierhaus a success. This past Sunday about 80 of us Swiss and friends of Switzerland came out to celebrate Switzerland's birthday and it's tradition. We enjoyed a great evening with delicious food and fun & games for the kids, happy times - have a look at the pictures, thanks to "speedy Karolina", the album is already up on our website.
A special thank you goes to Bill Binger, president of Swiss beds North America www.swisssleepsystem.com for sponsoring the welcome drink; Liliane Jones and the Swiss Consulate Atlanta for organizing and sponsoring the Swiss give aways, such as mouse pads etc.; Gabriela Provenzano from www.artconnectionjewelry.com for supplying the sweet Lindor welcome greeting, and Peter and the entire Fritz & Franz team www.bierhaus.cc for the great food and hospitality.

This Year’s party will take place on Sunday July 31st 2011, 6 PM at Fritz & Franz Bierhaus.
We meet at 6:00 PM on the plaza in front of the restaurant for the welcome drink, which is generously sponsored by Bill Binger President of Swissbeds North America. Then we move inside and listen to the recording of the official National Day speech for the Swiss abroad, delivered by the Swiss Bundespresident. Followed by our usual enthusiastic SING along with our National Anthem. If you are a bit rusty and need to refresh your memory on the lyrics visit www.admin.ch ‐ Schweizer Landeshymne.
Like every year, Peter and the Bierhaus team will prepare a wonderful dinner buffet for us with delicious salads, Swiss specialties, and a selection of deserts. The restaurant is all ours for the evening ‐ put on your Swiss gear, bring your family and friends, and let'shave a good time celebrating Switzerland’s Birthday together.
For the little ones we will also again have our traditional Lampion Umzug (parade)! Bring your own festive Swiss Lampion if you have or choose one sponsored by the club, we have enough for all kids.

Switzerland is one of the oldest States in the world. More than 700 years ago, the inhabitants of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden signed a contract of mutual aid and protection, the “Federal Charter”, which has since been considered to be Switzerland’s deed of foundation. This solemn oath, taken on 1 August 1291 on the legendary Rütli meadow overlooking Lake Lucerne, was mainly an act of rebellion against the Habsburgs, the rulers of the kingdom of Austria, who at the time were planning to extend their sphere of influence as far as the territories bordering the St Gotthard.
A symbol of national identity par excellence, the Swiss flag becomes the main attraction of the 1 August national holiday. For the occasion the Swiss flag so loved by the Swiss people is flown outside people’s homes and on public buildings across the country.
