Founded in 2003 and relaunched in 2006, SwirlAZ — which changed its name to SwirlPhoenix in 2008 — is the Phoenix chapter of Swirl, Inc., a national, multi-ethnic organization that challenges society's notions of race through community building, education and action. Additionally, SwirlPhoenix provides a safe space for local members to explore issues of mixed race identity with social, educational and cultural activities.
