MRG - GENK - 17 OKTOBER 2010

The last race of the season was held on octobre 17th in Genk at the new track of MRG. On Sunday it was cold but dry and in the EFRA class we had still to crown the champion. A battle between Thomas Stockman and Olivier Bultynck for title could be very exciting.  Olivier has to come in as third if Thomas took the win to contain the title.
In the qualification of the EFRA class was a battle between Nick Joosens, Thomas Stockman and Olivier Bultynck for the first place on the grid. But Olivier managed to take TQ in front of Thomas and Rico Claeys on the third spot. Nick Joosens and Jonathan Prouvosq were on fourth and fifth spot.
The first final promised to be a big war between Thomas Stockman and Olivier Bultynck but after the start Olivier managed to make a gap and Thomas couldn’t come any closer. Nick Joosens was on the move and passed Rico Claeys. Nick did everything to come back on Thomas. At the end of the first final Olivier came in as first, Thomas as second and Nick as third.
At the start of second final in the first corner Olivier Bultynck made a mistake and was in third place. Thomas Stockman took the lead followed by Nick Joosens. Nick tried to stay close to Thomas but Olivier was attacking to come back. Nick let Olivier passing by. Nick was struggling with his Schumacher on this low grip track. Meanwhile Thomas was on the move and Olivier couldn’t close the gap and choose to make a good result for the championship. Thomas took the win in front of Olivier, who was sure of the championship now, and Nick as a good third.
The third final would only descide who’s gone win the race. Olivier and Thomas pulled away from the rest. Nick Joosens overtook Rico Claeys and tried to stay on the third place. Thomas was attacking Olivier and everybody saw a clean battle. In front of the rustrom, Olivier let a little gap and Thomas took his chance. A little touch and Olivier was sliding on the straight of the track.  He did everything to has no collision with an other competitor and came back on the right lane. Meanwhile Thomas was gone and with the lost of six seconds Olivier could only battle for second place. Thomas took the victory and Olivier was glad with his second place, Nick managed to get the third place. Overall winner: Thomas Stockman (Xray), second and champion 2010 Olivier Bultynck (Corally) and third Nick Joosens (Schumacher).

In the Superstock class was Geoffrey Vekemans already the champion and he was experimenting for next season. It was Werner Broeckx who took TQ in front of Pasquinel Neys and Stefan Rommens in third. Marc Knops was fourth and Jasper Cuyvers fifth on the grid.
If the qualification was playtime for Geoffrey Vekemans, it was big bussiness in the finals.
Geoffrey was starting from place six on the grid and at the start of the first final Werner Broeckx took the lead in front of Pasquinel Neys and Marc Knops. Stefan Rommens was going off and had some difficultys with his rear suspension. Meanwhile Pasquinel took the lead but Geoffrey was coming. Geoffrey overtook everyone and after a mistake of Pasquinel, he was now in the lead. Werner was trying everything but Geoffrey was outstanding and took the win. Werner came in as second and Pasquinel, a little disappointed, third.
The second final promised to be even more exciting. Werner Broeckx took a clean start followed by Pasquinel Neys and Stefan Rommens. In the second lap Pasquinel made a mistake and dropped back. Geoffrey Vekemans was allready attacking on Stefan Rommens for second place. Werner was driving the perfect lines and saw Geoffrey coming back. Geoffrey had overtook Stefan and was second and tried to kept that place. Werner took the win, Geoffrey was second and a fast Stefan was third.
In the third final was everything still possible. Stefan Rommens was the man with a mission. After a clean start Werner Broeckx was struggling with his tyres and Pasquinel Neys was not able to keep Stefan behind him. Also Werner saw Stefan passing by. Stefan was driving the race of his life and was building an advantage on Geoffrey who was coming. But Geoffrey did everything and Stefan made a gap of nearly six seconds. With a marvellous drive from Stefan, the youngster took his first win in this championship, Geoffrey secured his overall win with the second place and Pasquinel was the third. Overall winner: Geoffrey Vekemans (Schumacher), Werner Broeckx (Xray) second and Stefan Rommens (Corally) third.

The battle for the pole in the Stock class was open for everyone. The champion of 2010 Michel Mahieu was not able to do so and took fifth spot, Kristof Dewitte took fourth in the last qualy. Maxim Naegels took TQ in front of Krist Bultynck and Dany Naegels.
We saw in this season that the Stock class was going faster and faster with the 17.5 brushless motor and that the drivers became more competitive to eachother. Also in this first final was the battle very close but fast. Maxim Naegels in the lead followed by Krist Bultynck and Kristof Dewitte who was going faster and faster after a change of his tyres. Maxim made a little mistake and Krist was in front but Kristof was the fastest man on the track and Krist let Kristof go by. Maxim came back and tried to overtook Krist. Kristof bring his car over the finishline as first, followed by Krist and Maxim.
The second final promised to be a great race and yes it was. Maxim Naegels in the lead, Dany Naegels second and Krist Bultynck third. Kristof Dewitte was driving the race of his life and overtook first Krist and shortly after that also Dany. Meanwhile Maxim had made a mistake and Kristof was the leader. A clean battle between Dany and Krist for second place and Krist overtook Dany. Kristof took the win in front of Krist and Dany.
The third final was even more close racing than the other finals. Maxim broke something on his car and was out of the race. Dany Naegels was in the lead and Kristof Dewitte, Michel Mahieu and Krist Bultynck were chasing very hard. Dany was in the lead and Kristof was attacking very hard to close that gap. And in one of the last laps, Kristof manage to overtook Dany. Kristof was the winner of the last final in front of Dany. Michel was in third place but in the last corner he slipped and Krist passed Michel for third place. Overall winner: Kristof Dewitte (Hotbodies), Krist Bultynck (Corally) second and Dany Naegels (Tamiya) third.
