Round 5 of the FBA 1/10th on-road Touring Car Championschip was hosted by the MRG club situated in Genk on sunday 21st of august. The weather forecast was for sun on saturday and for sunday showers in the afternoon. But Sunday morning there was some rain. Everyone was preparing the rain car. The sun came out and the track did eventually dry out but with grip
levels very low. The qualifications could begin. It was Olivier Bultynck who dominated the qualifications in front of Thomas Stockman and Nick Joosens. The first final after a little shower could be interesting. But Olivier Bultynck took the lead followed by Thomas Stockman and Nick Joosens. It was sure that this race would go between these three guys. Ollie was going well and Thomas tried to follow. Lap 12 and Thomas made a mistake. Ollie was gone and Nick took second place. Thomas came in as third. Rico Claeys was a happy fourth. Second final and Olivier could decide this race but in lap 9 his car broke and Thomas took the lead. Nick was in third place closely followed by Nicoals Delise. Thomas took the win in front of Nick and Nicolas. The third final would decide the race. Olivier Bultynck in the lead with Thomas Stockman close behind him. Nick Joosens was not so happy and could not follow the leaders. But Thomas made a mistake and Nick was in second place. Ollie could cruise now to victory and his third win this season in the championship. The fight for second place could begin. Thomas tried everything but Nick would take second. But Nick did a little mistake and Thomas went away with the second place. Manuel Henriet came in as fourth. Final Result: Olivier Bultynck (Yokomo) overall winner, Thomas Stockman (Xray) second and Nick Joosens (Yokomo) third.  In the Superstock class it was Christophe Charlier who took the pole. He suprised everyone but Christophe prove that he was fast on this beautifull track. Stefan Rommens was on the second spot and Pasquinel Neys third. Nick Logie was fourth and the leader in the championship Werner Broeckx had some worse qualifications and had to come from seventh spot. The first final was a big fight between Stephane Roufosse and Stefan Rommens. They overpowerd the rest and the spectators saw a good and fair fight. Stefan Rommens took the win with two tens of a second in front of Stephane Roufosse. Pasquinel came in as third in front of Werner Broeckx. The second final was a different race. Pasquinel Neys and Stefan Rommens were fighting for the lead and Nick Logie overtook both in the same corner. Nick was fast on this track and proved it with the win. Werner Broeckx came from seventh on the grid and took second place in front of Pasquinel Neys. The third final was the decider. Nick Logie started as fourth took fast the lead and could made a gap. Werner Broeckx was fighting hard to overtook everyone. Surely Werner was the fastest man on the track and was pushing hard. Meanwhile Nick was in the front and could secure his win. Werner came in as second in front of Stephane Roufosse and Stefan Rommens. Final result: Nick Logie (Xray) overall winner, Werner Broeckx (Xray) second and Stephane Roufosse (Xray) third.  Maxim Naegels was allready crowned as the new champion after four wins in a row. The question was : who is able to beat Maxim in the two last races. Maxim dominated the qualifications and was TQ. Danny Naegels took second place and Krist Bultynck third. Stijn Lievens took the fourth spot. In the first final Maxim went away from everyone and took easily the win. Stijn overtook Danny and at the end Krist. Danny took third place in front of Krist. Krist Bultynck had a clean and good start in the second final and could follow Maxim. But this was only for a while. Maxim was to fast and took the win in front of Krist and Danny Naegels. Just before the third final we had some rain and Maxim was allready sure of the overall win and didn't start. Danny Naegels took a good start but Krist Bultynck was pushing hard. Krist came on the inside and overtook Danny. Krist went away and Stijn Lievens could pass also Danny. But Danny fight hard and came back on Stijn. Krist took the win in front of Stijn who passed the line before Danny did. Arno Henkens came in as fourth. Final results: Maxim Naegels (Xray) overall winner, Krist Bultynck (Yokomo) second and Stijn Lievens (Associated) third.  |
