On sunday 8th may was the second race held in Zwevegem on the local outdoor track. This is not a permanent track but the club MRCZ did a good job with the lay-out of the track. Local driver Thomas Stockman was the designer of this lay-out and made himself this way as the man to beat. On practise saturday we had a beautifull day with a lot of sun and for sunday we except the same but in the late afternoon was rain expected. In the first qualification of three, Olivier Bultynck put a good time on the clock in front of Thomas Stockman and Nick Joosens. On new tires the track was faster and Olivier decide not to drive in the second and third qualification. No-one could beat the time so Olivier was on pole in front of Thomas and Nick on the third spot. First final and all the spectators saw great and big battle between Olivier Bultynck and Thomas Stockman. Thomas was pushing hard and fair but Olivier wouldn't make space till the moment they had to overtake some slower drivers. Thomas took advantage and Olivier was now the hunter. In the fast corner at the end of the straight Olivier retook the lead and kept it till the finish. Thomas came in as second, third Nick Joosens and fourth local Rico Claeys. Second final was another story, Olivier was very fast and clocked fast lap after fast lap and took the win. for the second place there was a battle between Thomas Stockman and Nick Joosens. But Thomas took second in front of Nick. Third final Olivier decided not to start. Nick and Thomas drove a nice final with some beautifull overtaking and Nick took the win, Thomas second and Geoffrey Vekemans came in as third after a good final. Overall results: Olivier Bultynck (Corally) winner, Thomas Stockman (Xray) second and Nick Joosens (Yokomo) third. In the Superstock class it looks like it would be the year of Werner Broeckx but it wasn't the race of Werner. Yves Zoma was fast on this track and took the pole in front of Renaud Gysembergh and Pasquinel Neys. In the first final Renaud Gysembergh took the best start and on the second place came Stefan Rommens but suddenly his car broke and Werner Broeckx was coming from behind and took second place in front of Yves Zoma who had bad luck after a hit. Renaud took the win and proved that even in Zwevegem he could go fast. The second final we saw a better start for Yves Zoma. Behind him there were some position changes and Stefan Rommens took second place. For the third place it was a nice fight between Renauld Gysembergh, Pasquinel Neys, Werner Broeckx and Stephane Roufosse. Werner Broeckx won this battle and came in as third. Yves Zoma took the win. The third final would decide everything. But Stefan Rommens has find his best setup and run away from everybody. Pasquinel Neys did all he could and took second place. Werner Broeckx overtook Yves Zoma and came in as third. Overall result: Stefan Rommens (Corally) winner, Yves Zoma (Schumacher) second and Werner Broeckx (Xray) third. Maxim Naegels is the man to beat this year in the stock class. He proved in the first race how fast he was with the 17.5 motor. Also last year's champ Michel Mahieu would try to beat Maxim this time. But Maxim took TQ in front of Michel and Jannick Rommens as third on the grid. Maxim Naegels was to fast for all the rest and drove from start to finish in the lead. No-one could follow and Maxim took the win. Michel Mahieu made a mistake in the start and the fight for second place was between Danny Naegels and Krist Bultynck. But Danny let Krist go and Krist took second place started from spot five. Michel Mahieu came back from behind and took third place. Second final same story for Maxim Naegels. Maxim took simply the win. For second place a nice and fair battle between Jannick Rommens and Krist Bultynck. Krist was a little bit faster but could find a gap to overtook Jannick. Jannick took second place and Krist was just behind for third. The third final became the same as first and second. Maxim went away like a bullet and let everyone far behind. Maxim took the win. Michel Mahieu did all he could but he had to be pleased with second place. Krist Bultynck came in as third. Overall result: Maxim Naegels (Xray) winner, Krist Bultynck (Yokomo) second and Michel Mahieu (Xray) third. |
